Happy 2013!

Happy New Year!!  And we welcomed it with usual class and style!
Below, a few shots of House Family Xmas (not held on Xmas).  This was the premiere for the 2nd generation of pinatas: leading it off with holly. (as in, baughs of.)  Tradition held that the guys wore the "pinata parts" once breakage was complete.

Margot opted for some protection during the pinata activity. (Although we deserve a little credit- in the old days, we used a 2x4, now we've upgraded to a Nerf bat).  Safety first!

Pat "won" the $30 white elephant exchange, according to Todd.

A few other winter activities during the holiday week-- least popular of which was sledding.  Maybe they wanted helmets?

Taking a break from the magic carpet (FULL of people trying out Santa's new equipment).

Urban initially refused to have anything to do with skis.  (Poor thing, he's been poisoned at a young age...)  But Uncle Pat did manage to squeak a smile out of him as the speed increased.

I won't take credit for this marvelous idea, but we gathered to send off a luminary with our hopes and dreams for 2013.  It became more of a "how many family members does it take to screw in a light bulb" exercise...
Below, an optimistic shot of the send off.

Between a pilot, an engineer, 3 doctors and several other beer drinkers, you would think we could have figured this out...or, at least get the kids out of the way?
We'll blame it on the "wind", but the paper torch darted across the yard and into a tree.  Physics. schmysics.  Maybe next year.

We continued the consumption at the base of the mountain in traditional fashion, complete with polka music, polyester, and plenty of bubbles.

Happy New Year, and go Irish!! National Championship is less than 1 week away!!
