I mean, it was bad. Real bad. Not only record snowfalls, but super really duper cold and LOOOOOONG. A few randoms to tell the tale of our winter...
The kids tried their snowpants on in November to make sure they fit. Thankfully, they lasted us through June.
Too cold to make snow angels outside, so we're practicing in the basement.
A big hit for this (not) crafty mom...the homemade teepee! A hideout for the many hours spent indoors.
Yes, Margot. We're all sick of it too.
Pat even pulled out the boy scout handbook and started a fire one fine afternoon, thinking we'd last more than 10 minutes outside. I tell you what, of all the years to have brutal temperatures...it had to happen before the kids could dress/undress themselves.
First time on the slopes for the season- all smiles. Little did we know at the time Margot was going to flunk out of ski school (Pat and I heard her screaming from the top of the chairlift) and soon got a call to come pick her up.
We became regular connoisseurs of hot cocoa.
Somedays, it looked ok...
Margot the ski school dropout. We'll let it go this time, missy.
The picnics continued despite the nasty weather.
"See, kids? The sun still exists."
This was a stretch...warm water in the pool table lasted a few hours before it turned into ice.
There were many days we didn't see the pavement this winter. When it finally appeared, there was much exploring to be done on the Gator Tommy got from Santa.
...and mud puddles to splash in.
Finally! A spring ski day in April!
We did lots of cooking and baking inside, and became quite fond of Rice Krispie Treats.
The last day of the season...good riddance.
Lots of chauffeuring around the driveway, although it was the passenger's job to get out and push when it got stuck on the ice...real life lessons. :)
C'mon spring!
