Catholics vs Convicts

The Schaffler family tends to congregate around Notre Dame football, and this was the perfect excuse to head back to Chicago (our first time back since the move!) for a "home" game against Miami at Soldier Field.  Thanks to our local hosts Aunt Katie and Uncle Joe, we had awesome accommodations for the entire family in the Gold Coast, complete with a playground across the street where the kids became reacquainted with cement.  Tommy pointed out the "skyscrapers, trains, and taxis"...none of which we see too often in Traverse.
She was so pleased to stand at the bottom of the slide...wonder what she'll think of going down!
"Cheers!" Little do they know Momma and Daddy are sneaking out after they go to bed...a role which will most likely be reversed in the distant future.
The tailgate drew a crowd- it was so fun catching up with Susie and Megan and admiring their baby bumps!   Oooooh, how tailgating has morphed over the years...:)
Despite the cool (ok, downright cold.) temps, the Schaffler women were all smiles! :)
We need to photoshop Joe's attire.
Photoshop is too advanced.  Here, how's this? ;)  Haha.
After a few cups of coffee and a round of Motrin on Sunday morning, we all headed out to watch some of the Chicago marathon.
"More Cowbell!" on North Ave at mile 9.
Callie (age 4) practicing her defense (a primitive form of babysitting).
She sat in the rocks and played, which I couldn't argue.  At least she was out of the way.
A great weekend with family...Bill and Eileen, we missed you!
Aaaaaaaand, IRISH WIN!
