The Unloading...

Over the past few days, we've had the pleasure of BOTH sets of grandparents coming to visit our new neighborhood for the first time. Almost as if they planned it, they both brought a carload (or trailerload, as the case may be...) of old "treasures" that they've been waiting to "dump" until we had enough space of our own.
Threatening this "dump" since our marriage, my dad arrived unannounced and promptly declared this was the first trip of many, since the trailer wouldn't fit everything at once. Pat's parents thankfully arrived in a sedan and needed to have room for both Pat's treasures AND his sister Katie's, so needless to say it was faster to unload.
Below, Pat displays one of the many items...his "varsity jacket" from junior high. Notice the monogram on the chest- "Lightning". He said after the jacket was made, his nickname switched to "Lightning Bug", and finally landed on just "Bug".
I'd like to point out some of the items below: a weed-wacker, a student council plaque, a water bucket, a saddle rack and various horse grooming supplies.
Some of the items didn't make it past the garage, such as the Christmas lights (they still work!), and the ladder from my college loft.
Gus was in heaven with some undivided attention.
I swear Tommy is still around...chances are he'll make the next post.
Have a great week! We're lucky that Grandma Jane is still in Chicago til next weekend!
